what is clinical massage?

Clinical massage is focused on treating specific medical conditions and providing relief from pain, discomfort, and tension related to these conditions. It involves the application of various massage techniques to address musculoskeletal issues, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote overall healing.

Assessment-Based Therapy: Unlike relaxation or spa massages, clinical massage is aimed at addressing specific issues, such as injuries, chronic and acute pain, or post-surgery recovery. We conduct an assessment to understand you, your medical history, and your specific areas of concern before designing an individualized treatment plan.

Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Clinical massage therapists often work in conjunction with doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Combination of Techniques: It often includes a blend of different massage modalities such as IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation), Cupping, Pin and Stretch, and other muscle activation/relaxation techniques.

Performance Enhancement: Aimed at improving athletic performance by increasing flexibility, reducing muscle tension, and enhancing overall body function.

Recovery Aid: Assists in the recovery process post-exercise by reducing muscle soreness, promoting relaxation, and enhancing circulation to expedite the removal of metabolic waste products.

Specific Techniques: Involves various massage techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and stretching to target specific muscle groups and address sport-specific demands.

Customizable: Adapted to the individual needs of the athlete based on their sport, training schedule, and specific physical conditions or injuries.
