Self-Compassion in the Face of Holiday Treats
When it comes to your diet during the holidays, there’s no need to make yourself frantic over seasonal indulgences. This time of year can be stressful enough without worrying about every little thing you eat. The key to maintaining through the holidays is that once you have your treat, you get right back on track. What we’re really talking about here is self-compassion. Give yourself a break if your diet isn’t perfect around the holidays and hit the ground running the next day.
Whether your fitness goal is increasing/maintaining muscle mass or losing/maintaining fat levels, what you eat will play a role in your success. Despite showing yourself some grace, it’s still important that you nourish your body with adequate protein and keep your total calories in check for most of the season. We’re hoping you can see that you don’t need to throw your hands up and forgo healthy eating habits for the entire season just because of one indulgent meal, day, or weekend.
We encourage everyone to get an Inbody scan before the Winter really settles in so you can create a game plan for how to balance holiday treats with the rest of what you eat. Remember, knowledge is power, knowing the details of your body composition can be a helpful guide as we direct you towards your goals. In essence, prepare not to fail.
